About Geneva Peace Week
Geneva Peace Week is the flagship event of the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform. The annual forum provides a dedicated space in which organizations in Geneva and their international partners come together to share knowledge, expertise and practice on a diverse range of topics relating to the promotion of peace across contexts and disciplines.
Geneva Peace Week 2024 marks the 11th edition of Geneva Peace Week and will take place from 14 to 18 October 2024.
The thematic direction for GPW24 is « What is Peace?« . As the world grapples with escalating conflicts, growing inequality and unprecedented global challenges, this overarching theme serves as a poignant reminder of the elusive nature of peace and the urgent need to redefine and reaffirm its significance. “What is Peace?” is above all a call to action from across the globe.
Against the backdrop of an increasingly fragmented world, Geneva Peace Week 2024 seeks to explore the multifaceted dimensions of peace, probing its meaning, as peace can be understood in many ways, but also its value, and its intrinsic connection to the well-being of humanity. There is a growing recognition of the need for collective action and international cooperation. The future role of the multilateral system in peacebuilding and prevention efforts will be key in the years to come. Initiatives such as The New Agenda for Peace, the Summit of the Future, and the 2025 United Nations Peacebuilding Architecture Review demonstrate our collective endeavour to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Through a series of thought-provoking discussions, interactive workshops, and engaging panels, participants will embark on a journey to unravel the essence of peace and discover new pathways towards its attainment.

Exhibition | Nature Foot Print
Nature Footprints is a collection of art from around the world bringing together community stories of climate, conflict, and peace. The collection amplifies the voices of communities directly affected by climate-related conflict, as well as those participating in environmental peacebuilding efforts. It is offered as a gift to anyone working on climate policy – as a platform for reflection and conversation, and as an invitation to consider what these creative pieces have to offer international decision-makers as we continue to work for effective, just, and timely climate policy.
It will be showcased at GCSP 4th floor from 15 to 17 October 2024 and it can be accessed online through the virtual exhibition.
Nature Footprints is part of Peace@COP28 efforts, emphasizing the critical need to put issues of peace and conflict in the spotlight during climate change negotiations. Learn more: ecosystemforpeace.org/cop28
