This event takes place ahead of the Seventh Session of the UNEA (UNEA-7) and of the Youth Environment Assembly 2025 to ensure broad youth and stakeholder engagement and understanding of the process, this webinar is organized to serve as a comprehensive information session about UNEA and associated processes.
About this Event
The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), held biannually in Nairobi, Kenya, is the highest decision-making body of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The Seventh Session of the UNEA (UNEA-7) will take place from 8 to 12 December 2025 under the theme “Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet”. The Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP (CYMG) is the official mechanism for young people to engage in UNEA, the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR), and other UNEP processes, ensuring meaningful youth participation in global environmental governance.
In the lead up to UNEA, CYMG organizes the Youth Environment Assembly (YEA). YEA is the largest global gathering of youth advocating for environmental action in UNEP’s intergovernmental processes and related cross-cutting initiatives within the broader UN system. It provides a space for engaging in policy discussions, capacity building, knowledge-sharing, and the development of the Global Youth Declaration on Environment, which is presented at the UN Environment Assembly. The 2024 YEA gathered over 450 youth from around the world in Nairobi.
To ensure broad youth and stakeholder engagement and understanding of the process, this webinar is organized to serve as a comprehensive information session about UNEA and associated processes.
