CCDR is a nurse-led international non-governmental organization with programs built on the guiding principles of nursing practice. Their approach provides communities with direct access to care and benefits from the unique nursing perspective that spans disciplines, settings, and lived experiences. CCDR prioritize holistic and continuous care, ensuring meaningful time with patients and attention to their physical, emotional and social needs. Their goal is to change the paradigm from patients being guests in the decision making system, to the hosts.
Advocacy is a central part of CCDR’s work – amplifying patient voices and honoring their preferences. Their programs seek to cultivate collegial, respectful collaboration among healthcare professionals and maintain intentional space for ethical reflection in all aspects of service delivery. CCDR’s definition of community includes patients, carers, clinicians, researchers, policy makers, industry and all stakeholders that have a role to play in improving our health system and advancing medical research.
